The Field Trip
|
Going to the Queen Elizabeth Park trip was an amazing opportunity to take photos of nature outside of school. The field trip was absolutely beautiful besides a few “incidents” that disrupted our trip. I made some weird memories on the bus, had a lot of fun walking around with my good friends and take photos of our surroundings. One of the best parts about the trip was the Bloedel Conservatory because it had beautiful birds inside and some shade from the hot sun that day. Most of my photos turned out okay but some turned out amazing (in my opinion). Most of the photos needed a little editing but after editing every photo, I loved it even more. I liked one photo so much that I made it my lock screen on my phone. My “strongest” photo would have to be photo 1, photo 3 and photo 7 because those were the ones that looked great by itself and when I started to edit them, they turned out even better. If I could change anything, the one thing I would change is the fact that I would usually focus on having the “perfect” scenery without me enjoying the scene in front of me.

Winter
|
This is my winter project! I decided to go for a winter theme because my house won’t be decorated with any holiday stuff since we’re to lazy. I took advantage of the snow that has been here for the past few days and took photos of it. One of the photos is half snow and half forest. I had inspiration from my leading lines project so I incorporated that idea into this without repeating the idea. The next photo is a photo of Rebecca taking a photo of the snow. I was suppose to take the photo without her but it turned out better with her in it. With her being on the side, it really filled up the empty space that was beside the tree. The last photo is a photo of a tree with snow on the side. I took it because it’s not daily where you see some snow on the side of the tree. Also because I took inspiration from my friends that were doing the same projects as me.

Over/Under Exposure
For this project, we had to take 5 photos of the exact same thing, in the exact same angle and in different exposures. The 2 on the left were taken with under exposure, the middle photo was taken with normal exposure, and the last 2 photos were taken with over exposure. We had to edit the photos to combine all 5 photos into 1 where we see an element from each exposure.

Principles of Design with Rebecca
|
This photo represents repetition by the recurring appearance of the yellow lines on the road. It was inspired by one photo that we saw while looking at examples of repetition on Google Images. We changed the curves of the photo so the yellow lines would appear more bright than the original photo and the rest of the photo to be more dark. (The photo being described is the first photo)

Leading Lines
|
This is my leading lines project. Leading lines is a concept where there are lines in the photo that almost point towards the main focus of the project. One of my photos is a photo of my friend’s shoes on the staircase. I chose this photo because it was the best photo that shows what leading lines were. My next photo is a photo of the fence that’s leading to the snow. I chose this photo because the first try with that was not focused well. My last photo was a photo of footprints leading to the forest. I used this as my last photo because I had no other photo for this project until I saw the footprints. I had to take a few shots of his because it was either unfocused, the forest was not in shot or the photo didn’t turn out well in general.

Love
|
This is my love project! The photos I wanted to do for this project was to have nice photos that everyone usually sees but put my own twist to it. For m first photo, it’s Rebecca holding a flower behind her back while crossing her fingers. I wanted to have a meaning behind it since most of my photos are just “in the moment” photos. The meaning behind this is that even if you receive gifts from your loved one, they can still hurt and abuse you. My second photo is Raemi doing the heart hand in front of a cupcake. I wanted to do a cliche photo but with a small twist to it so that’s how I got the heart hand idea with the cupcake. Last but not least, my third photo is Rebecca and our other friend, Luisa, and it’s a photo that was taken in the moment. I chose this photo because friendship isn’t appreciated as “love” even if it still is. Most of the time, when you hear love, you think of a relationship between two people but for this, it’s the relationship between two friends.

Textures
For the textures project, we had to take 9 photos of different textures that we found. I found this project interesting because I found cool textures from strange places. For example, the first photo of the second row was actually an old sticker I found on the side of the green garbage can at the back of the school. The top right corner was a photo of a concrete structure that was found near the track. Overall, I enjoyed doing this project.

Framing
This is my framing project! The framing project was to take 3 photos of something that is framed by another thing. I wasn’t sure what to do for this, but it turned out really good. The eye photo was totally unexpected because I had no idea what to do. I saw a branch outside and it popped into my head. Since eyes are the “window to your soul,” I decided to take the photo like that.

Edits
Here is my edit project! All my photos were edited with layer masks besides the first photo. My first photo is the unedited photo that was needed. The next photo is my black and white photo with a high contrast and I used the hue/saturation layer mask to make it lighter. The photo next to it is the black and white photo with a low contrast and it was edited with the black and white layer mask and the hue/saturation layer mask to make it darker. The bottom three are my “colour” photos and what I did to edit these were textures. I used a few textures that I thought were cool to look at and I used different colours so it looks like a variety of different photos when it’s just the same photo 5 times. Overall, I really enjoyed to do the editing and to see the finished product.

Bonus Projects/Random Photos
|
These photos were from bonus projects or random photos I took throughout the year. Most of these are unedited because I just found them in my "random" folder. They either didn't make the cut, or I just didn't think that it would fit in with the projects that we were suppose to work on. Most of these photos are of Rebecca because her and I would be out together to work on our projects and when I had the camera and she would do something weird/funny, I'd try to capture those moments.
